2021.10.18 13:46 imparooo Orb strategy question

Hello everyone
I have an orb optimization spending issue and hope to get some guidance.
Right now I have 320 orbs and could probably mine up another 500 if finished all the various story, challenges, etc.
I definitely want to pull for Brave Alm on his revival at the end of the month, as I have only one copy right now with -Spd (ouch). On the other hand, simulator tells me I would need 1237 orbs to be in the 50% percentile for 10 copies, so that seems to be out of the question.
My arena core is Alm, Yuri, L!Byleth (swapped for another legendary if not water season) all unmerged and bonus unit, and I play a hit & run style.
The question is - what's the best strategy for my orbs.
- Should I try to get as many Alms as possible
- Should I spark Fjorm and try to get one Alm, then keep on saving
- Other
Thank you!

2021.10.18 13:46 Substantial-Spirit-7 Not another ‘I quit’ post… I think?

To preface this, I am usually an avid grinder in games and I’ll grind happily, as long as it’s even remotely fun and feels like you’re making progress, no matter how incremental. I’ve played WoW and other MMOs, as well as a ton of shit clicker mobile games, so daily grinding to progress is fine in my book in general. I’m also okay with having to eat even more grindy shit when I don’t feel like spending money on a game.
So I have a lvl 100 BW at around 515k power, and lately I’ve just not been enjoying the grind. My policy in general towards games is “if it ain’t fun, I ain’t playing it” and lately this is all I can think when I log in to MFR. There is just so much RNG involved and the payoff to hours worth of grinding is usually very small.
It feels like work; work where on some days your manager just randomly decides to deduct your pay, even though you diligently worked all your hours.
It’s so repetitive and there is very little to look forward to. Even if I got my BW to 1.5 mln power after 2 years or so, then what? On to the next one just to put in another 2 years of the same? Will they have had added tons of super cool content I’d be super excited to play through?
To be honest, I haven’t even finished the current Dark Domain areas, just because it all felt like more of the same and I’m not looking forward to another annoying boss fight with gimmicky mechanics to force you to power up.
And I’m saying all of this after I randomly got the Steampunk suit on my widow the other day with free crystals, and cosmetics have been 90% of the reason I’ve been playing. I was happy for a day or two, but now it just fees like that shitty boss just gave me a pretty dress on one day, only to go back to his abusive ways on the next.
TL;DR: I’m struggling to have fun doing all the daily stuff, what motivates you to keep logging in?

2021.10.18 13:46 powercordblanket Live music photographers

Hey fam, I have recently had the opportunity photograph some music festivals coming up and have been asked by some publications to put together a pitch. Which I haven’t done for live music before. I’m struggling to come up with any key words or ideas apart from I just wanna shoot good photos of live music. Do publications like magazines and blogs want an essay written on what your artistic vision is? Or are they wanting to know just a few key things you like to photograph?
Would love some help. Thanks in advance

2021.10.18 13:46 KickAndRunAway Question: How do you go about synchronising gameplay with music in Pygame?

So, I'm trying to make a pretty simple rhythm game where the objective is to move around in the beat of the music and get to the goal, similar to games like Crypt of the Necrodancer. But I cannot sync the actions to the music playing. Based on what I've read so far, this can be a tricky thing to get right. Does anyone know how to keep the two in sync even through potential framedrops?

2021.10.18 13:46 fortalameda1 Help with city earnings tax

I just started a new job in NJ (live in Philly) that does not take out the Philly wage tax automatically from my paycheck. I started the day after labor day. It looks like I now need to pay the earnings tax if this is the case, but I'm having difficulty trying to calculate what I owe in 3rd Q since my paychecks don't line up with the quarter, and if I use my earnings before/after taxes and medical deductions to calculate the correct percentage. Can anyone help clarify this? Is there a calculator somewhere online that's available for helping with this? Any help would be great. TIA!

Hello Everyone,
I am currently debating getting the game, only for the fact that I do not have a group to play with. I would thoroughly enjoy having a usual group of people to play with and eventually beat Nightmare mode with. Please message me if you are also looking for a group and we can make a discord or something later today (around 3PM EST). Thanks for looking and happy gaming!

2021.10.18 13:46 mermiroir Thoughts on my post from this weekend...

So this past weekend I posted about an experience I had where I get frustrated at a meetup switching to English. I just wanted to respond to a few of the answers I got:

  1. My level of French- I'd say understand it's C2, speaking somewhere between B2 and C1. I'm studying conference interpreting, so I need to have a very good understanding of the language, but since it's one of my "passive languages", speaking isn't emphasized as much. That being said, I do consider myself to speak well, albeit not perfectly.
  2. There are lots of comments about English being the lingua franca of our times, etc. I'm well aware of English's reputation as being *the* international language. I was first introduced to this concept back in 2012, while living with a German host family who regularly referred to English as "Die Weltsprache schlechthin". I've studied in several different countries, and I'm more than familiar with English's reach around the world, as well as native and non-native speakers tendency to rely on it to communicate when abroad. But being aware of this doesn't mean I *like* it. Telling me to *suck it up* is not only unhelpful, you're also late to the game, as I've told myself to suck it up at a number of different occasions. It's hard though to just "forget" about something you feel so passionately about. I personally think English is a horrible choice for a lingua franca. If I had to choose one, I'd choose Esperanto, as it's about as neutral as any language gets (of course still not ideal for non-Europeans, but then again, neither is English). Whether or not we even need a lingua franca is another question...
  3. Really, this post was just me venting about a frustrating experience, in the hopes of finding other people who had experienced this issue. I think the scope of people who really *get* what it's like is quite small (native English speakers living abroad who really want to learn one or more other foreign languages). I may be wrong, but I think this is something that non-native speakers will have a really hard time understanding, because at the end of the day, English is still not their native language and even if they're forced to speak it in certain situations, it's more interesting to them than their mother tongue. I remember traveling in the border region of the Czech Republic close to Germany and being slightly frustrated when people would respond to my Czech in German, but not nearly as frustrated as being answered in English in Prague. Probably because I still had fun speaking German and felt "smart" for understanding their German responses. I remember being in Belarus close to the Polish border with a group of Polish people, and they would get very frustrated by the Belarusians responding to their attempts at Russian in Polish. These kind of experiences are generally far and in between for speakers of even the most prevalent of other languages, but for English speakers learning a foreign language, it happens pretty much anywhere we go. (Another anecdote: I remember once going on a trip to Russia with some fellow German students learning Russian- we were going to meet up with Russians learning German. I decided to go on this trip in particular, because German and Russian were supposed to be the "official languages"... but I still remember getting stuck in situations with a German and Russian, both learning English others' languages, wanting us to switch to English. As so often is the case, they didn't understand why this might be frustrating for a native English speaker who was fluent in both languages and went out of his way to go on a trip where he wouldn't have to speak English.
  4. Building off of my last point, some people said "no one owes you (insert language) practice/an immersion experience". To them I say, that is completely correct. However, I don't think the comparison is completely sound. When we talk about English, and even an international language like French, for example, we are not talking about the same language. When a French person goes to an English-speaking country, they are going to be confronted with infinitely fewer attempts by others at practicing French. For native English speakers, this happens all the time. People who speak Czech as a native language could probably spend their whole lives abroad and never get "Czeched", and if they ever did, they'd probably be excited about it and wonder why someone is learning their language. I think the amount of demand for English compared to other languages should be taken into consideration when an English speaker tries to spread their wings and learn a 2nd language. For every one English speaker living abroad actively learning the host country's language, there are 100 more who are not. Why not seek out those who love speaking English to practice instead of forcing that on the minority that's working hard to learn?
5) There were several very helpful and understanding answers to this post. There were also a few that called me "selfish", a "prick", and insinuated that I thought I was a self-centered American that thinks the world revolves around him. Not sure how you could make so many assumptions from one post, when several people didn't even seem to get my gender right, but to them I say: Maybe cool it on the insults? I mean, you can definitely disagree with me, but I am also just a human being trying to figure out life. I didn't force anyone to speak any language that day, and just maybe slightly let my frustration show after having being "English-ed" three times earlier that day leading up to that. I quickly reigned it back in, played along for an hour, and then slipped away at a convenient moment. Also, few people told me I need therapy, to which I say: you're absolutely right, and what's wrong with therapy? I wish I could afford to go every day!
That is all- bonne journée à toutes et à tous !
